How Much Do Decorative Wall Finishes Cost? A Kraków Price Guide

Prices that do not end at „from"
I dislike price lists where everything starts at some amount and no one tells you where it ends. So for each technique I give a from–to range. Labour separately, meaning my own work applying the effect, and the material separately, because you choose the system and the price bracket we work in. You can buy material for 40 PLN and order a technique whose application costs 250 PLN, or the other way round. I give the final price after seeing the wall, since it depends on the state of the surface, the height and the area. Rates apply to Kraków and the surrounding area.
The material itself can vary a lot in price, which is why I do not lock it into a single figure. Take Venetian plaster: the same effect can be done on a basic lime base or on an Italian plaster with a ready palette of historical colours, and the material in the second case can cost several times more per square metre. One client prefers to save, another wants a specific, difficult colour without tinting it themselves. For the quote we pick a system to suit your budget and the effect, and then the material range turns into one exact figure.
Limewash
Labour 80–120 PLN/m², material 20–40 PLN/m², roughly 100–160 PLN/m² together. A velvety lime paint with a living play of light. The lightest of the effects, good for large areas and for interiors meant to feel calm.
Lime plaster and Ottocento
Labour 120–150 PLN/m², material 60–90 PLN/m², roughly 180–240 PLN/m² together. A matte, cloud-like finish with soft depth. A natural, breathable surface at home in bedrooms and formal rooms alike.
Sahara and sand effect
Labour 120–160 PLN/m², material 25–45 PLN/m², roughly 145–205 PLN/m² together. Desert sweeps with a gentle metallic reflection that shifts under the light. A warm backdrop for a living room or hallway.
Suede effect
Labour 140–190 PLN/m², material 40–60 PLN/m², roughly 180–250 PLN/m² together. A surface soft as suede to the touch, with a subtle sheen. Elegant and understated.
Travertine
Labour 150–180 PLN/m², material 100–150 PLN/m², roughly 250–330 PLN/m² together. A texture imitating natural stone, with visible pores and a warm, matte finish. It gives a wall character without excess. I show similar work in my decorative finishes portfolio.
Concrete effect
Labour 160–220 PLN/m², material 90–130 PLN/m², roughly 250–350 PLN/m² together. A raw, matte surface in an industrial spirit. I match the number of layers and the depth of the cracks to the effect you want. This is a hand-built concrete effect — microcement for wet zones, a shower enclosure for instance, I quote separately, since it is a complete system.
Marmorino
Labour 200–260 PLN/m², material 60–90 PLN/m², roughly 260–350 PLN/m² together. A traditional Italian plaster made from marble flour, smooth with a light sheen. A classic among decorative techniques.
Venetian plaster
Labour 240–300 PLN/m², material 60–100 PLN/m², roughly 300–400 PLN/m² together. A multi-layer, polished finish with depth that shifts with the light through the day. An effect for walls meant to carry the whole space — living room, hallway, fireplace.
Rust and patina effect
Labour 180–250 PLN/m², material 50–90 PLN/m², roughly 230–340 PLN/m² together. Rubbing and bloom that add age and raw beauty to a wall. Hand-made work, where every metre looks a little different.
Marbling and faux marble
Labour 250–350 PLN/m², material 50–100 PLN/m², roughly 300–450 PLN/m² together. I hand-paint the veins of marble onto a wall, a cornice or a fireplace. A simpler stone sits at the lower end, a full composition of veins and colour transitions at the upper. Very detailed work I quote per element, once we settle which stone we are recreating.
Wood graining
Labour 250–350 PLN/m², material 30–70 PLN/m², roughly 280–420 PLN/m² together. A painted imitation of wood grain on doors, panelling and built-in furniture. It is detailed work I usually price per element rather than per wall metre — for larger surfaces I give an exact quote after seeing the piece.
Ombre
Labour 80–140 PLN/m², material 15–40 PLN/m², roughly 95–180 PLN/m² together. A smooth colour transition, from lighter to darker or between two hues. It is a painted effect, lighter and cheaper than plasters, but the whole impression rests on a smooth, hand-blended gradient with no visible edges.
Surface preparation
Priming 12–20 PLN/m², bonding primer 20–30 PLN/m². If the wall needs filling, skimming or the old plaster removed, I quote that individually after seeing the surface. A level substrate is the condition for every effect above.
What else affects the price
Height and access matter, along with the number of layers an effect takes and the size of the area. On small walls, below ten square metres, the rate per metre tends to be higher, because the preparation takes as long as on a large one. I give material as a range, because the real price depends on the producer — for an actual job I pick a specific system and then you know the exact figure. The questions clients ask me most often before a quote are gathered in the FAQ. The easiest way is to send me a photo of the wall with its dimensions through the contact form, and I will reply with a firm quote.
